What is Coaching?

Who Benefits from Coaching?

|

Our approach to leadership coaching is to collaborate in order to accomplish specific outcomes that will increase personal and/or organizational value. While we tailor our approach to meet specific requirements, we usually include the following elements:

SELF-ASSESSMENT AND AGREEMENTS

During an initial conversation we agree on desired outcomes, time frame, and approach. We also negotiate mutual expectations, clarify roles and confirm organizational commitment and support. This agreement serves as the foundation for our working relationship.

FEEDBACK

Several key colleagues are identified for the coach to interview, both peers and those who work for you. The coach summarizes their confidential responses and your self-assessment, providing you with a multi-dimensional perspective on your current strengths and learning opportunities.

COACHING PLAN
Your personal and professional challenges provide the focus for a coaching plan, which includes specific goals, actions to be taken, and support from the coach. It also provides the basis for evaluating progress and determining future developmental strategies.

COACHING SESSIONS

Face-to-face and/or telephone sessions during a three-to-twelve month time frame accelerate new understanding and behavioral shifts. Format and content remain flexible, guided by your goals and emergent issues. Each session concludes with a summary of learning and actions you will take.

DEBRIEFING

At the end of our work together, the coach, client, and sponsor meet to assess progress, strategies learned, and impact on the client and the organization. This conversation provides an opportunity to reflect on the process, define what helped and hindered success, and determine how to proceed from here.

ONGOING DEVELOPMENT

Our approach is one of collaboration to accomplish specific goals. When these specific goals are completed, we will identify what will best support the changes you have made, and what will be required to continue your learning and development. At the end of an initial coaching engagement, many clients identify new goals.
